A Shopify Store Development Company Built for Brands That Sell Everywhere
Sqicks exists because too many growing ecommerce brands are stuck choosing between a cheap, generic Shopify theme and an enterprise agency price tag they can't yet justify. We build custom Shopify and Shopify Plus stores with the engineering discipline of the latter, at the responsiveness and pricing clarity of a specialist team that only does this one thing. This page covers why we started, what we believe about Shopify development, who's leading the company, and where we're headed next.
Why We Started Sqicks
Almost every ecommerce founder we've talked to has the same story: they launched fast on a free or low-cost Shopify theme to get to market, it worked well enough to validate the business, and then it quietly became the ceiling on their growth. Page speed stalled. The design stopped reflecting the brand. SEO was an afterthought bolted on by whichever app promised the easiest install. None of it was anyone's fault exactly — it's just what happens when a store built to launch quickly is asked to scale.
On the other end of the spectrum, brands that go looking for a proper custom build often run into agencies built around large retainers, long onboarding processes, and account-management layers that add cost without adding speed. For a brand doing six or seven figures in revenue and trying to expand into new countries, that overhead is hard to justify — but the underlying need for real engineering, real SEO, and a real design system doesn't go away.
Sqicks was built to sit in the gap between those two options: a development team that treats Shopify as a craft, not a template library, priced and structured for brands that are serious about growth but don't need — or want to pay for — a traditional agency's overhead. We work directly with founders and ecommerce teams, we quote projects with a fixed scope instead of an open-ended hourly rate, and we build every store against measurable performance and SEO targets from the very first milestone.
The name itself is meant to be a small promise: quick, precise, no wasted motion. A "sqick" fix is the kind of change that looks small on the surface — a corrected redirect, a trimmed script, a rewritten product description — but moves a real number: load time, conversion rate, ranking position. That's the unit of progress we optimize for, project after project, rather than treating "the store is live" as the finish line.
We also started Sqicks specifically as a Shopify-only shop, not a generalist web agency that happens to offer Shopify as one of several platforms. That focus matters more than it sounds: Shopify's theme architecture, checkout constraints, app ecosystem, and Markets tooling all have sharp edges that only show up once you've built dozens of stores on the platform. A team splitting its attention across WordPress, Magento, and custom stacks simply doesn't accumulate that depth as fast — and on Shopify specifically, that depth is what separates a store that merely looks finished from one engineered to perform.
Our Mission
To give ecommerce brands of every size access to the same level of Shopify engineering, design, and SEO sophistication that the world's best-funded DTC companies use — without the agency overhead that normally comes with it. We measure ourselves against that mission on every project, not just at launch.
- Fixed-scope proposals with no hidden hourly surprises
- A named development team, not a rotating account-manager relay
- Core Web Vitals and SEO targets written into every project brief
- Post-launch support instead of a hand-off and disappearance
The Brands Sqicks Is Built Around
Founders outgrowing a starter theme
You launched fast on a free or low-cost theme, it worked well enough to prove the business, and now the design, speed, and SEO ceiling it created is holding growth back.
Brands expanding into new countries
You're profitable in one market and ready to launch in others, but need Shopify Markets, localized payments, and multi-country SEO set up correctly the first time.
Teams migrating off another platform
You're moving from WooCommerce, Magento, or BigCommerce and need the switch handled without losing years of accumulated search rankings and customer data.

What We Believe About Shopify Development
Outcomes over output
We measure a project's success by conversion rate, load time, and search visibility — not just whether a store went live. A launch date is a milestone, not the goal.
Transparent by default
Fixed-scope quotes, honest timelines, and no padded hours. If something changes scope, you hear about it before it happens, with the cost and timeline impact laid out plainly.
Performance is non-negotiable
Speed and Core Web Vitals aren't an optimization pass at the end — they're a requirement built into every milestone, checked before a feature is considered done.
Local details, global standards
A store built for Berlin and a store built for Dubai should feel local to each shopper while meeting the same engineering bar for speed, accessibility, and structure.
Direct access, always
You work with the people actually building your store — not an account manager relaying messages between time zones and losing detail with every handoff.
Built to last, not just to launch
We write documented, maintainable code and design systems your team — or the next agency — can actually build on top of without a full rewrite.
Meet the Founder

Kushal Trivedi
Founder & CEO, Sqicks
linkedin.com/in/kushalmtrivediSqicks was founded on a simple observation: the brands that win in ecommerce aren't necessarily the ones with the biggest budgets — they're the ones whose stores load fast, rank well, and make the buying decision effortless for the customer. That's the standard behind every store we build, and it's the standard I hold our team to on every single project.
Before starting Sqicks, I spent years close to founders building and scaling brands from the ground up — watching firsthand where technology helps growth and where it quietly gets in the way. That perspective shapes how we scope every Sqicks project: we're not interested in billing hours for the sake of it, we're interested in shipping a store that measurably performs better than what came before it.
My goal for Sqicks is straightforward — build the Shopify development company I wish existed when I was on the other side of the table: transparent, fast to execute, obsessive about performance and SEO, and genuinely invested in the brands we work with, wherever in the world they're selling. I stay hands-on with every engagement rather than stepping back once a project is sold, because the details that make a store actually convert tend to surface well after kickoff.
That's also why Sqicks is deliberately structured around a small, senior team rather than a large bench of junior developers routed through account managers. Every project gets direct access to the people actually writing the code and making the SEO and performance calls — because the fastest way to lose the details that make a store convert is to add layers of communication between the brand and the build.
"We're not trying to be the biggest Shopify agency. We're trying to be the one founders recommend to the next founder, because the store actually performed."
How We Compare to a Freelancer or a Traditional Agency
Most Shopify projects end up with one of three types of teams. Here's honestly where each tends to fall short — and where we've positioned Sqicks instead.
| What matters | Freelancer | Large agency | Sqicks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify-specific depth | Varies widely | Often generalist | Shopify & Shopify Plus only |
| Direct access to builders | Yes, but limited capacity | Rare — account managers relay | Yes, always |
| Fixed-scope pricing | Inconsistent | Usually, at a premium | Yes, standard practice |
| Performance/SEO built-in | Depends on individual skill | Often a separate paid add-on | Included by default |
| Multi-country localization | Rare specialty | Available at enterprise pricing | Core specialty across 13 markets |
| Post-launch support | Ad hoc | Available via retainer | Structured, defined window included |
An Approach Built Around Transparency and Speed
Every Sqicks engagement follows the same structure, whether you're launching your first store or migrating a Shopify Plus operation across a dozen markets.
We scope before we quote
Every project starts with a discovery call and a written scope of work — you know exactly what's included, what it costs, and how long it will take before development begins, and before you commit to anything.
We build in the open
You get a shared project board and regular async updates, so you're never waiting on a scheduled call just to check on progress. You can see exactly what's in progress at any point in the build.
We test against real benchmarks
Every build is checked against Core Web Vitals, cross-device QA, and accessibility basics before it's considered ready to launch — not just eyeballed on a single laptop screen.
We stay after launch
Post-launch support, monitoring, and iteration are part of the plan from day one — not an upsell you discover after signing, and not a team that disappears the moment invoices are settled.
Sqicks' Roadmap
Establishing our core Shopify & Shopify Plus development practice
Building repeatable, documented processes for design, development, migration, and SEO across every project we take on, so quality doesn't depend on which team member happens to pick up the work.
Deepening our presence across all 13 target markets
Expanding our playbooks for payment localization, RTL layouts, and multi-market SEO as we take on more international projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Building proprietary tooling for Shopify performance audits
Turning the internal checklists we already use for speed and SEO audits into tools our clients can access directly, rather than keeping that process purely internal.
Getting to Know Sqicks
Is Sqicks a full agency or a specialized development team?
We're deliberately a specialized team, not a full-service marketing agency. We don't run paid ad campaigns or manage social media — we focus entirely on the Shopify store itself: design, development, migration, speed, and SEO. If you need broader marketing support, we're happy to work alongside your existing team or agency.
What size of brand do you typically work with?
Most Sqicks clients are ecommerce brands doing anywhere from early six figures to eight figures in annual revenue — established enough to justify a custom build, and growing fast enough that platform limitations are starting to cost them real money.
Do you take on one-off projects, or only ongoing retainers?
Both. Many engagements start as a single fixed-scope project — a new build, a migration, a speed audit — and some clients continue on a maintenance retainer afterward. Neither is required; you choose what fits.
Can you work with our existing in-house developer or agency?
Yes. We regularly hand off documented, maintainable code to in-house teams after launch, and we're comfortable collaborating alongside an existing marketing or development team rather than replacing them.
